At the start of 2013, I knew it was going to be an exciting year for me. I had taken a step into the unknown world of romance writing the previous year. 2013 was the year when my debut book would be out. I was filled with hope and excitement at a brand new beginning, at having reinvented myself as a writer and embarking on a new adventure. And what a year it has been. One book is out and yet another has been completed. I have interacted with people from all over the world, made new friends, engaged with readers and learnt more about the craft of writing.
In 2014, I am looking at even more beginnings. And I would urge all of you who are reading this to go chase your dreams. To take that leap of faith. To venture forth despite the misgivings, the doubts, the risks, the uncertainties. Sure, there are bound to be ups and downs on the way. Sure, there will be roadblocks and barriers that you can never quite anticipate or eliminate. But what’s an adventure without the risks?
Give your beginnings your best shot and believe in yourself. If it doesn’t work out, you’ll be happy that you gave it your all, that you strove for excellence. That in itself is a huge achievement and reason to celebrate. And then launch on a fresh beginning. A little planning goes a long way but don’t get into analysis paralysis. Let the excitement not fizzle out.
A quote that has always inspired me to carry on through the darkest of days when nothing seems to go right is this:
“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It is about dancing in the rain.”
Have a Happy 2014. Have an Inspired New Year!
