WIP Blog Challenge — Sneak Peek into my Current Writing Project

Some clever soul once said, “If you wait for inspiration, you’re not a writer, but a waiter.” Frankly, at this moment, I’m a waiter of sorts. Waiting for my Muse to show up, who is taking a little break right now. Before she cracks the Whip and makes me return to my WIP (Pun totally unintended!) I take this opportunity to respond to my lovely author friend Devika Fernando who has tagged me for a “WIP Blog Challenge”.

Thanks, Devika, for including me in this interesting tour. Do check out Devika’s blog and her new book Playing With Fire which is the first part of a fascinating 4-part “Elements of Love” series. This Sri Lankan author has a knack for coming up with the most exquisite images to support her writings and feel free to check out her Facebook Author page.

Here are the rules for the WIP Blog Challenge:

1) Provide the link back to the post by the person who nominated you (see above).
2) Write a little about your work-in-progress.
3) Give the first sentences of the first three chapters of your current WIP.
4) Nominate four other writers for the challenge.

I am currently working on a romantic suspense novel. The working title is No Safe Zone and here’s a short synopsis: When the girl who is supposed to launch their non-profit organisation’s child rights program goes missing, Qiara travels to the heart of Rajasthan to find the missing girl. The stakes rise as she begins to uncover a sinister operation. She has no choice but to turn to the one person she hoped she’d never have to meet again: Kabir. But can she trust a man who betrayed her all those years ago. More importantly, can she trust herself not to lose her heart all over again? Treading the fine lines between safety and danger, truth and lies, love and betrayal, past and present, good and evil – Qiara and Kabir discover that in life there is no safe zone.

balsamandHere’s a look at a palace in Jodhpur that inspired the setting for my book.

Opening Lines.
Chapter 1. — Nothing could spoil Qiara’s mood. Not even the grey skies that leaked water in a steady trickle.
Chapter 2. — The annual polo tournament was in session and there were more celebrities you could spot in the chock-a-block spectator stands than ants in an ant hill.
Chapter 3 — Kabir stared at the swarthy man standing before him with a gun pointed at his chest.

And here’s my nomination of four writers:

Dakota Madison, author of After Alex Died
Sundari Venkatraman, author of The Runaway Bridegroom
Zeenat Mahal, author of The Haveli
Summerita Rhayne, author of Against All Rules

Now, back to the WIP. The Muse with the Whip Waits! 😉
