The 100th Post Milestone… Looking back, looking forward

With this post I have completed a century of blog posts. Seems like a significant milestone in my blogging journey. And what a wonderful ride it’s been.

Three years ago when I started this blog, I’d often wonder if my interest in the blog would wane after the initial enthusiasm. Would I be able to sustain it week after week, month after month, year after year?

And here I am, 100-posts and some 88-pages (a double celebration, indeed, since the number of pages too is fast approaching the 100 mark!) later. Along the way I have achieved some minor and major triumphs, suffered a few setbacks and earned many, many friends and well-wishers.

What had started as an attempt to kick-start my write-daily habit led to the publication of two books and completion of a couple screenplays. En route, I discovered new authors and bloggers, many of whom inspired me through their own writings. Through my blog pages I have interviewed several of them and hope to be able to do so in the future.

I have learnt that blogging is a means of not just shameless self-promotion (of course, it is, insists my promotion-shy alter ego!) but also a way of sharing some of the writing techniques that I have learnt or the insights I have gained.

Best of all, blogging has helped me to overcome crippling, debilitating, soul-crushing self-doubt when the words refuse to flow in my WIPs. Unlike the hard taskmaster that the novel or screenplay writing Muse is, the blogging Muse is much more gentle and encouraging.

Reaching the century mark, I feel a bit like the cricketer who has hit a ton in a test match. You put the triumph behind you, you take your mark once again, re-set your goals and hunker down for the next 100 runs!

Looking ahead, I hope to offer new content including sneak-peeks into my current Work in Progress and serialized stories, all fresh and piping hot, straight from my computer! 😉 And plenty of contests and fun!  If there’s anything in particular that you would like to read on my blog, I would love to hear from you!

And finally…thank you all for visiting my blog. Because you guys make my journey such an adventure!

To round off the 100th post celebration, here’s a teeny-weeny contest for you all!!

If you have read my new book, Trouble Has A New Name, you will find this easy to answer (and if you haven’t here’s my cue to urge you to pick up a copy from Amazon!) 😀

What’s the name of my heroine Rayna Dutt’s pet dog in my book Trouble Has a New Name?

From the correct entries, I will pick one random winner (from India) and another one from overseas.

Prize for Indian winner: Rs 300 Amazon gift card.

Prize for International winner: US $5 Amazon gift card

Hurry!! Contest closes on: 31st December, 2014!
